9 of 12 · November 23 – December 21 · Fire · Mutable
The archer aims past what is in front of them, which is why the sign ends up associated with theory, travel and the long view. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, and the reputation for excess comes with the territory.
The dates above are the conventional ones and hold for most years. The Sun actually crosses into Sagittarius at a slightly different moment each year — by up to a day — so a birth on November 23 or the day before can land on either side depending on the year and the hour.
If the birthday is on that edge, check it with the zodiac lookup using the exact time and place rather than a printed range.
