Libra 天秤座

7 of 12 · September 23 – October 23 · Air · Cardinal

Libra begins at the autumn equinox, the one moment when day and night are exactly balanced, which is the entire argument of the sign. The scales have to be read against something, so Libra is less about indecision than about refusing to judge without the other side.

Where the boundary falls

The dates above are the conventional ones and hold for most years. The Sun actually crosses into Libra at a slightly different moment each year — by up to a day — so a birth on September 23 or the day before can land on either side depending on the year and the hour.

If the birthday is on that edge, check it with the zodiac lookup using the exact time and place rather than a printed range.
